In writing my memoir, I have come across many who say, "How can you seriously think your readers will believe you've remembered details of a past that existed 25 years ago"? The answer is simple, and I can now say I have enough experience to respond honestly (I've been at this for 2 1/2 years). The cobwebs are dusted off as I read old letters, court records, notes, college papers (all written in this regard), and hold interviews with family and friends. I regularly face my fears through the use of all my senses. Like this cartoon, the details have unfolded before my eyes as if it all took place yesterday (do you remember this?) ...Especially when the memory is traumatic and repression is removed, the revelation is astounding.
I've enjoyed working on my memoir and have learned and healed from it. I hope you will continue to follow along as I post further installments...another coming your way shortly.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, my brother and sister and I used to LOVE this show, I haven't thought about this in years!
I think people have to understand that for some of us, our memories are easily supported with factual data. I think it is a great healing process for you.
You know I would be more than willing to be an early reader for you when the time comes.
I have many crystal clear memories from 25 years ago. I truly believe there are some people who can recall older memories very well. Although, as I get older I may find there is a limit to how far back I can go!
I look forward to reading your book.
Some things you just never ever forget. You just do what you have to do. Have a great day and weekend little chicken. Big hug and lotsa lovies. :)
Your blog btw, is very impressive. I get a little lost because there is so much! Very professional and well done. You are good at it! Can't wait to read your book.
Your memories you share make it so easy to connect with you- though most of what I have read about your past makes me sad for you, it also allows me to see you and know you.

I seriously can't remember a thing. I have no idea who my 2nd grade teacher was.... I am anticipating your memoirs. I support you 100%
Entertaining video trip down memory lane and best wishes on your memoir progress ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
Yes I remember that show, but I have not thought about it in a long time. Makes me think of this poem; Billy Collins-Forgetfulness. Good luck on your memoir.
Holy crap! I totally forgot about that show!! They had some great ones in the 70's didn't they? Remember all of those Sid and Marty Croft shows? Classic!
Every so often I'll "remember" something that happened when I was very young. My first thought is always, did that really happen?
So I ask my mom or anyone else who might have been there and have knowledge. Most of the time the basics of the event I remembered are true.
I guess filling in the details becomes a matter of asking others what they remember. And sometimes I wish I would have kept a journal when I got a little bit older.
I just started keeping memories in my zip drive ... can't remember why ?? ha haa!!!
The You Tube video cracked me up. My house full of girls was the sameway.
I've been working off and on with my life history for many years. I started journaling back in the 70's and thank goodness I had the forethought back then to write a lot of early memories while I was still young.
Lately, I've been noveling a lot more than working on my personal history and that's why I'm not done with it.
I think it's great that your sticking with yours. I'll get back to mine someday soon, I'm organizing photos to load on my computer. Right now I've been doing more short story writing and find it hard to get back to my novel in progress. Ack!
Hugs...Dorothy
