I’ve had health on my mind more than usual as of late due to my twin’s recent loss of 83 pounds and my recent gain of 15 (due mostly to inflammation). Thought it would be nice to finally get on line and post some research that I’ve found over the years in my studies of natural health. I consider this to be sort of an avocation, and I take it very seriously.
Detoxing is the key to unlocking the door to weight loss:
In short, our bodies are filled with chemicals simply through daily consumption of products that are found on the store shelves and in the restaurants we frequent. Anything that is processed (not organic) is going to be toxic (have chemicals). The more toxins we put in our bodies, the more battles we fight with disease and general poor health (headaches, chronic fatigue, poor digestion, food cravings, stuffy head, low sex drive, reduced mental clarity, and troubled sleep).
Medicines that are given to us by doctors are toxic:
Kevin Trudeau discusses the theory behind medical doctors being in cahoots with the pharmaceutical companies; you might have found at one time or another getting prescribed with a drug and wondering why that particular one. It is because they are making money off the sale and it doesn’t matter if it’s the right drug for you or not. Not only does it not work for you, but you end up back at the doctor’s office and like a guinea pig, they give you something else to temporarily cure your ailments – if you don’t deal with too many side effects, you might find some relief!
Additionally, you may have seen commercials on TV that talk about drugs that have been released prior to approval and due to claims of illness and even incidences as bad as death, they have had to remove them from the shelves and announce to the public to file a law suit in order to find justice. It’s about them, not us as individuals – if we are sick, they make money.
Summary:
It is not just about losing poundage (one can lose 10-20 lbs in just a few weeks), it is about better health and a sustainable life. Detoxing can be done every 6 months without causing any harm whatsoever. It plays a role in the body’s natural purification including the stomach, small intestines, liver, kidneys, bowels, etc. Choose an organic program so as to not add in more chemicals as you are attempting to remove them; follow the directions which typically include a list of foods that are easily digestible, a simple exercise program and you will see the results. Ask my twin; ask me. We’ve both experienced it.
Tips:
As a general rule, stay away from caffeine, refined sugars* (e.g. alcohol, juice, candy), processed foods – fast foods, anything in a box or can that has preservatives, white flour, dairy and red meat. Eat yummy wild caught fishies, raw nuts, legumes, and eggs (protein), raw veggies – green foods, coconut oil, and sea salt. Take a whole food energizer. (I swear by Nature’s Way, Alive´- veggie caps or the shake which contains vitamins, minerals, fruits, veggies, bioflavanoids, enzymes, amino acids, green foods, herbs, EFAs and mushrooms.)
*Refined sugars are just one of the many major reasons a “trigger” is not sent to the liver to burn fat and will stop your fat hormones from working properly – all 6 fat-burning hormones do their job in the liver. If you plan to eat sugar, you will not be rewarded by all the benefits noted above. Also, sugars will raise your blood insulin levels and cause you to increase fat. (I am living proof of this one when I began adding Cranberry juice to my vodka! I did this for about a month, yes, regularly, and gained 10 lbs. And, I knew better! I do not ever drink juice. I almost had a "cranbaby"!)
Thanks go out to Andrea Elliott, who I believe has inspired many to get healthy, my twin and the strength from an upper power for enabling me to find myself and bring back the inspiration I needed to make me who I am.

Incorporate Exercise into Daily Routine
The older we get the more important it is to incorporate exercise into our daily routine in order to maintain proper cardiovascular health and muscle mass....especially when we sit at the computer all day.
Note: If you're over 40, you might want to take it easy at first, then do more repetitions as you become more proficient and build stamina.
Warning: It may be too strenuous for some; remember, always consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.
SCROLL DOWN.......
NOW SCROLL UP...
That's enough for today. Great job.
Now. Go have a glass of wine.

Dear friends,Pausing momentarily to partake in the consumption of

and read an article on the dangers of heavy drinking....
Scared the crap out of me.

Rip's B.A.D. Ride Featuring Larry Hagman
As promised, here's the famous dude I said I would post earlier. I've been a fan since I Dream of Jeannie and later Dallas, so to learn first hand the ailments Mr. Hagman has suffered and the charities he's sponsored, it was a great honor to stand by his side. Read more about our B.A.D. ride to Long Beach here (B.A.D. = Bikers Against Diabetes), a fundraiser featuring Larry Hagman. {Additionally/ironically, my mom's b-day is today
; she too has Diabetes and recently lost most of her eyesight. Prayers to you, mama and happy birthday.} More pics from the ride to follow ~ Stay tuned. *smackies* (p.s. My NBFF, P, is also pictured here *winky winky*)

Elephant Stew
Life has taken me in a new direction as of late, but I can't stop thinking about the world I left behind. So, I've stopped in to say hello, to let you know I miss you, namely, (those regular contributors to my drivel listed below):
...and to share a family recipe provided by dear mom during my recent visit to her in the great land of Oz. She couldn't see the old book, so she handed it to me requesting I find "Elephant Stew" in the index. Though her vision has almost completely been taken by Edema, she still managed to find a giggle down deep; we laughed together till we about cried. Hence, in honor of her, here's her famous stew concoction. To your good health and to laughter too. *grinnies*
1 medium-sized elephant
brown gravy to cover
Salt & pepper
2 rabbits (optional)
Cut the elephant into bite-sized pieces. This should take about 2 months. Add the brown gravy and cook over a kerosene fire about 4 weeks at 465 degrees Fahrenheit. This will serve about 3800 people. If more are expected, add your 2 rabbits, but do this only if necessary, as most people do not like to find hare in their stew.

Day 8. Feel'n Gr8 - No Food. (scroll down for TT)
- Day 6 (with no food on The Master Cleanser), was the hardest for me, but it's over. Moving on.
- Day 7, I finally lost the desire to eat, cravings for everything junk subsided, and I had all my energy back (from the previous oopsie of too little maple syrup). I even had a super duper workout *yippee*
- Day 8, seriously feeling marvie. It really is key to prepare your mind, body, soul and spirit for this challenge. Sitting in front of the TV all day watching commercials that advertise crap food all day long is not a good idea. Nor is it a good idea to have your significant other hanging out in the kitchen cooking aromatic delights such as bacon and eggs while you drink your meal. The smell alone will send you into a slight state of homicidal madness irritability.
The only weirdness lurking is some joint pain in one knee (which never hurt before), which is normal with the detox and has already disappeared. I Also had a pain in my side (no joints there I don't think) where I cracked a rib years ago (from coughing). I know. I'm an odd duck.
Overall, my state of being is overwhelmingly peaceful and at ease. The desires to slit my next-door neighbor's tires have flown away. My body is getting back into shape and losing 11 pounds of water weight has been fantastico (yep, that's right). Good-bye Michelin Woman. (It is common to lose up to 20 lbs. if your body needs the loss.)
Go here to see the entire process (including benefits and vitamin-mineral content) on one page.
That's all.

Little Oopsie At Day 5 - No Food.
<--- Chuck, is that you?
As you regular readers know, I've been doing The Master Cleanser. Suggestion for this post is don't scrimp on the carbs! See, I've trained myself to stay away from sugar. FYI: carbs break down into sugar. In other words, I put about 1/2 of what the recipe called for of maple syrup, and this a.m. I had no energy. I could hardly walk up the stairs. ...must've been in a stupid stooper *knocking myself in the head* Don't let this scare you away, friends and family! I believe everybody should try it. It's amazing what's happening overall. I'm more peaceful, calm, and I have no stress, just to name a few. Just learn from my mistake. Simple enough. Now move on already.
Bonus: Removal of cravings and toxins are the biggest reasons I chose to to this; but, I've lost a lot of water weight! Day 5 and NINE lbs. *jumping for joy* I was a big, bloat ball! Everything I ate was causing me to expand. I thought I was getting fat, but I've never been overweight or really had fat on my body before.
Go here and here to see days 3 and 4 (if you care). (p.s. I've had a glass of lemonade this morning, and I already feel super duper!!)
*Lovies*

Day 4. 6 More.
The Master Cleanser is for those who believe in the body's natural ability to heal itself. I'm on day 4 of 10 drinking nothing but lemonade (fresh water, organic lemons, organic, grade-A, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper). The ingredients provide enough nutrients for the body to stay healthy for up to 40 days (though 10 days is standard) and will remove unwanted toxins healing the body naturally.
The "diet" focuses on curing acute and chronic conditions, cleansing the digestive system, creating better assimilation and building of body tissue, fighting off fatigue, losing weight, and freeing oneself of cravings.
Off to do some yoga. More tomorrow *kissies*

Certifiable...Day 3. No Food.
Doing something cuuuuurrrrazy - me and the lemons are do'n the detox dance. This isn't really something most would do or understand. Course. That's what I'm all about. Learned about The Master Cleanser at my health food store last year. Second time to give'r a go. Shant elaborate too much 'cause I expect many of you will say I've lost my head... Fine. So, you got me. You're right. That's why I'm doing it. That's why you haven't heard from me.
After a few months, I get emotionally, spiritually, and physically bogged down -- from the environment, things I consume, etc. Stress alone can do horrific things to the soul, and for me, I'm like a magnet. My radar detects it automatically and just like that, it leaches on and pulls me apart. So, after focusing on everyone/thing else, I'm focusing on me.
Be back again soon *huggies*

Still Sniffling
Would really like to come up with something witty and fun for today's post, but all that keeps coming to me is - *sneeze* - and then I wonder if I should take some - *sniffle* - more flu medicine - *cough* - or maybe lie down. So that's where I am, on the couch. Again.
Tomorrow I'm sure will be better (especially 'cause we are opening b-day and Christmas presents tonight)....hopefully -- *sigh* *cough* *sneeze* Nighty night.
Happy weekend all.

Catching Up
Darn it. Am sick. M&M brought home the flu for my b-day, so have been in bed for days. I finally posted some old stuff to get caught up -- note the Thanksgiving and Christmas fotos and some crap on health -- but now need to just plain sleep. Hopefully by the end of the week, I can visit all my friends and fans :)
Happy Hump Day all, and may I lose some of the inches that have leached onto my thighs as I lay my head down to rest.

Healthy New Year to Ya!
Anybody feeling chubby and a little dumpy? Yep, me too. It's that time of year when most of us have consumed a bit too much egg nog and fudge.
Chop up 1 cup of Kale, very fine. Place it in the blender with 2 bananas and 1 cup of water. Mix well and drink it down.

Inspiration
As some of you know, I am into naturopathic health and for good reason (which is a whole 'nother Oprah), so I won't get into that now. The point in bringing this up is that I've been dealing with pain for...well, many years -- abdominal to be specific and not one M.D. has ever helped. The bottom line is: there are many differing opinions about how to get in shape, get healthy, live longer, etc. -- in books, magazines, on the Internet and after reading Chris' post (above), I realized I need to Just Do It - NO excuses!! It was like getting hit with a brick in the head; I need to do what works for me, forget about the pain and just get on with it! The whole reason I became a runner was simply that I could do it whenever - wherever, at a very low cost, and I could become one with nature and God's beautiful earth! (It also helps to gain a carved, lean body amongst many other bonuses...)
So, after finding my 3-year old whey protein in the cupboard, I decide it's time to take a jaunt to the local health food store and see what new stuff is out there (never cared for the whey kind due to higher allergan potential -- so they say)! You guessed it, there are tons to choose from! I pick one from my favorite manufacturer that contains NO soy or sweeteners and head home. I down this green, thick, tasty beverage, put on my running shoes, grabb my water bottle, my MP3 player and am out the door (don't worry, I'm dressed tho' I failed to mention my attire). It's 70 degrees - perfect! And just like the old days, an hour and a half later I walk in the door, sweating, breathing heavily, and feeling like I'm finally on my way am ready for breakfast!
